When I need to drop control,
Silence nourishes my soul.
Silence helps me just to be,
When I need tranquility.
A silent place to calm my head,
Empty pews with nothing said.
The only light from votives bright,
That center me in thought tonight.
In silence, I can hear the sound
Of countless saints gathering ’round
And whispering into my ear
The Way I need to go from here.
I believe that quietude
Serves as a sort of “Spirit Food”
That nourishes our inward parts,
And brings new life into our hearts.
If ever things just get too loud,
Take a moment from the crowd
And let the silence speak to you,
And give you grace to make it through.
