The Task

Self-forgiveness is a task

Not for the faint of heart

One has to shed their outward mask

Before they even start

Once their pretense falls away

Their shadows in full view

They can from pummeled, beaten clay

Create themselves anew

Wiser for the stumbling

And kinder for the sin

With every act of humbling

Their healing can begin
